Congregation Sinai is proud to offer many opportunities for participating in religious services.
Sinai members regularly lead services, chant Torah and Haftarah, and occasionally deliver sermons. If you are interested in joining our leadership team, contact Rabbi Berkenwald. Paticipating in this way is a great honor and a holy service to the community. Those who lead services are role models who represent the community and perform vital religious functions on its behalf. For that reason, the Sinai Board of Directors, with the Ritual Committee, approved standards intended to provide guidance for service leaders' clothing and arrival time. In addition, a typical Saturday morning service includes at least twenty different honors for members and guests of the community. Some of these honors, such as chanting the Haftarah or lifting the Torah, require particular skills, while others do not require any prior knowledge.
If you would like to learn how to receive one of our numerous ritual honors, a Sinai member would be happy to help you. Contact us at [email protected] to set up a tutorial session.
