7th Grade B’nei Mitzvah Program

  • Congregation Sinai 1532 Willowbrae Avenue San Jose, CA, 95125 United States (map)

Our Kickoff program for 7th graders and their parents will take place on Sunday, November 13 at 10 am. Rabbi Berkenwald will lead an exploration of what it means to become B’nei Mitzvah. There will be a unique opportunity to re-attach a Torah scroll to its wooden rollers (atzei chayim). We will provide details about the program, distribute the schedule, and outline expectations for students and parents.

The Mission of our 7th Grade B’nei Mitzvah Program is for students to learn what it means to be an adult in the Jewish community through study, hands-on activities, family projects, and multi-generational interactions. Students will learn about key Jewish values, mitzvot, and rituals. Monthly activities will explore Jewish approaches to tzedakah, homelessness, hunger, the environment, as well as ritual themes like kashrut and tzitzit.
