Colin Bauman's Bar Mitzvah

  • Congregation Sinai 1532 Willowbrae Avenue San Jose, CA, 95125 United States (map)

Hello, my name is Colin Bauman. I’m a fencer, pencil artist, skier, baker, and devoted dad joke creator. I’m looking forward to sharing this milestone with family and friends–thank you for making the time to be with me.

My Parshat is B’ha’alotecha which discusses the numerous complaints from the Israelites, Moses, Miriam and Aaron to God and each other while they are in the wilderness. This complaining then results in their punishment, but in Moses' case, God does not punish him. I’ll discuss the meaning of these stories in my D’var Torah.

I would like to thank Doug Brook for his tireless tutoring and flexibility with my crazy schedule. Thank you also to Rabbi Berkenwald for his help with my D’var Torah and to Joelle Pluemer for helping my mom keep track of the millions of details for this event. Thank you to the Congregation Sinai community for supporting me and welcoming me and my family. I’d also like to thank Barbara Biran and Rabbi Ohriner for my foundation in Jewish learning. Thank you to my parents and brother, Austin, for helping me through this journey. Anna and Joel Bauman invite you to join their family as they celebrate the Bar Mitzvah of their son, Colin, at Congregation Sinai. Kiddush luncheon, hosted by Anna and Joel, will follow the service. Please join Colin and his family for this wonderful simcha. All are encouraged to attend.

SHABBAT MORNING SERVICES CAN BE VIEWED AT HTTPS://WWW.SINAI-SJ.ORG/LIVE. NO ACCOUNT OR PASSWORD IS REQUIRED.

Please note that if you attend in-person, you may appear on-screen. The livestream view will be of the ark, the bima, the podium and the first two rows in the Sanctuary. Anyone whose preference is not to be included in the frame should sit a few rows back and not ascend the bimah.
