Hello, my name is Ethan Mutchnik and I am a 7th grader at Yavneh Day School. I enjoy watching, playing, and talking about all kinds of sports, performing in musical theater productions, recording my podcast, watching TV, reading, traveling, and spending time with my family and friends. I am super happy about my Bar Mitzvah, and grateful that we can celebrate together.
My parashah is Vayechi, it is the last Torah portion of the book of Genesis. The parashah tells the story of Jacob blessing Efrahim and Menashe (Joseph’s sons), Jacob asking Joseph to bury him in the land of his ancestors, and Jacob and Joseph both dying at the end of the story. You will learn more in detail about my portion when I share my D’var Torah with you.
I’d like to thank Doug Brook for being my Bar Mitzvah tutor, and to Rabbi Berkenwald for helping me with my D’var Torah and teaching me to lead the Shacharit service. I am grateful for the support I receive from my family near and far, and both my Yavneh and Sinai communities. I am super excited to become Bar Mitzvah since my Jewish heritage has always been important to me.
Shabbat Shalom!
