(Postponed) Write Your Own Letter in the new Sefer Torah!

THIS EVENT WILL BE POSTPONED: STAY TUNED

WRITE YOUR OWN LETTER

11:00 am-2:00 pm

Sign up for a time to meet with the sofer and write your own letter.  This is a rare opportunity for children and adults of all ages.  Please register online for a time to meet with the sofer.  Alternatively, you can call the Sinai office to schedule your appointment.

The last of the 613 commandments in the Torah is for each one of us to write a Torah, using a feather pen, ink, parchment, and special calligraphy.  We can fulfill this mitzvah by purchasing a letter in the Torah and comissioning a trained sofer (scribe) to write it specifically for us.

The Torah is our most holy possession, and a tangible reminder of the moment at Mount Sinai when we became the Jewish people.

Which is the most important letter in the Torah?  The first?  The last?  The letters in the Ten Commandments?  The answer is “Yes.”  If even one of the Torah’s 304,805 letters is missing or incomplete, the whole scroll is invalid for use.  Each member of the Jewish people is like a letter in the Torah.  If a single person is left out, our community is incomplete.

Every Sinai member is invited to participate, both in purchasing and writing a letter.  Our sofer will be visiting Congregation Sinai three times over the next several months, giving us several opportunities to write letters.

AVAILABLE SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

For the first time in its history, Congregation Sinai is writing a brand new Torah scroll. Members and friends of Sinai are invited to participate in the 613th mitzvah by sponsoring a portion of this project. Check out the available sponsorships and make your selection via the link below.  One can dedicate a letter, a word, a parasha, a special section or a whole book.
